errorin opening .mat file

Sir i have downloaded a .mat file and ifi try to open in ,it opens in microsoft access amd .mat extension is not there if i drag and place it inn new foder which creates error saying Undefined function or variable "templates".please suggest some idea

1. How do you try to open the MAT file?

2. ".mat extension ist not there" - where?

3. Where does the error message appear and how is the procedure related to "templates"?
