How to access vertices of mappolyshape?

Is it possible to access X, Y, Z coords of a mappolyshape?

I am aslo interested in a solution of this problem.

I am not able to extract X,Y Coordinates from a mappolyshape, as the mappolyshape appears to be empty. But I can illustrate the shape via mapshow(), so the coordinates must be stored anywhere. But where?!
