What is the distribution? If it's normal, you can simply use randn(). If it's a different one, you can use random(), which has a bunch more named, standard distributions. If it's some custom distribution, you can use "Inverse Transform Sampling" like in my attached demo where I get samples from a Rayleigh distribution.
