serialportlist does not show connected USB devices

Hi fellas,

I am trying to read a USB device (a buttonbox) via the serialport function in Matlab 2021a (macOS). Although, the serialportlist only shows 3 devices and none of these are the buttonbox:

• dev/tty.BLTH
• /dev/cu.BLTH
• /dev/tty.URT1
• /dev/cu.URT1
• /dev/tty.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port
• /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port

The device is properly connected to the computer since I can type with it in the commandwindow.

Does someone know 1) what are these recognized serial ports, and 2) why other connected USB devices are not recognized via the serialportlist function?
