DCAM V1.20 Camera

Hi- I am trying to interface to a Sony XCD-SX900 digital camera (firewire interface), which supports DCAM V1.20. The camera works fine and is supported by coriander, but when trying to use the Image Acquisition Toolbox the camera is not detected. I suspect that this is because the camera does not support the recommended DCAM V1.3x format, but it seems that it should still be possible to grab images from the camera, in particular because the camera works fine with coriander. Is there a way to put matlab in 'just trust me' mode to grab images from the camera?
