Projected Area of 3d mesh

Hi everyone,

I have 3d cad geometry in matlab.(Converted from .stl data). This geometry which is an assembly is composed of lots of parts.

I want to calculate projected area of geometry on any plane. I use this area for calculation of aerodynamic resistance force.

Do you have any recommend for solve this problem.
