Need help using curve fitting toolbox

I need to find parameters a and be to this function f(x)=1614413.7*(coth((x+b*y)/b)-a/(x+b*y)). I get this error: The name y cannot be used for both a coefficient and the dependent variable. Is there an easy way around this error?
