How to measure the circumference of a lake using Bwboundaries?

Good day. I doubt it and I'm not getting to do.

I can calculate the circumference of the lake using numerical methods, but alert measurement points.

How do I use a picture from a satellite to compute this area using bwboundaries? transforming the image into binary image?
