Extracting the zip file on mac, installation errors

I'm getting the error that says "There are no are no products available to install from this location". From what I've read, I have to extract just one file from the zip download, and then put everything into the extracted folder. How exactly do I do this? Extracting InstallForMacOSX gets the matlab icon, but clicking this does nothing, even when it is in a folder with the rest of the zip file. When I use an archiver and click on the zip file I get the following:

archives bin etc help InstallForMacOSX java sys (this and everything above is a folder) activate.ini install install_guide.pdf installer_input.txt license.txt patents.txt readme.txt trademarks.txt

What should I do?
