Problems installing MCR on Win 7 x64

Hi there,
when I'm trying to install the MCR 7.15 I get:
The files for installation requirement VCREDIST_v90_X64 could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or canceled download.
Does anyone have some suggestions how to solve the problem?
Best regards, Sebastian

Hi,
thanks for answering my question. I took the MCR installer out of my Matlab directory (C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2011a\toolbox\compiler\deploy\win64). Hard to imagine, that this file is corrupted...

I calculated the md5 checksum for the 11a MCR 64bit:
08906239dd109d0f41605984377c7ae5
I used:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/checksumtool/

08906239dd109d0f41605984377c7ae5 MCRInstaller.exe
same here... so obviously some other problem... :/

Mhh okay. You try to install it on a Win7 x64 machine? Installing the vcredist needs admin rights. do you have those? maybe try installing the vcredist_v90_x64 manually before installing the MCR and see if the same error still occur.

Well, I can just find vcredist_x64.exe. The installation of this particular file works fine; MCRInstaller is still broken.

Sorry, about the other questions: Yes, Win7 64 bit; yes, I have admin rights.

I have never seen this issue before. Seems like you are the first one facing this issue. What happens when installing the vcredist_v90_x64 manually?

You can find it here:
C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2011a\bin\win64\vc90

I have no vcredist_v90_x64.exe there, just vcredist_x64.exe and I can install it.

this is correct so far. when does this error occur exactly?

Right after my confirmation, that the prerequisites can be installed. Exact enough? So in order I chose English as language by pressing OK; starting the installation process by klicking "Install"; confirm the changes caused by Setup Launcher by pressing Yes. Next, a dialog window showing the quoted Error-Message pops up.

So the error is thrown from the vc_redist installer. There was a known issue with this:
http://www.laplink.com/support/kb/article.asp?ID=1073
Since you are running Win7 it should exist anymore. But the error looks like yours. MathWorks has a solution for this too:
http://www.mathworks.com/support/solutions/en/data/1-6LU4O5/index.html?product=CO&solution=1-6LU4O5
So disable antivirus software and the UAC of Win7. The UAC forces a lot of strange Win7 behaviors.

I allready tried to disable the Antivirus, but still the installation didn't work out. I tried both installers from the first of your quoted links (of course both for x64). Both worked fine, no problem at all. But still the MCR throws the error.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

As far as I know, VCREDIST is a file of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008/2010 Redistributable Package. Better try to install x32 and x64 of this free package and try again.
