Communication Systems

Communication Systems is a textbook designed specifically for students of computer science, information technology, and electrical engineering disciplines. It provides a balance between theory and the related applications with the help of figures, solved problems, numerical exercises, and review questions.

The book starts with a detailed discussion on the basic principles of analog communication and the essential concepts of digital communication. The subsequent chapters elaborate upon the various types of transmission media such as transmission lines, waveguides, microwave, optical, satellite, television, and radar, followed by a discussion on data communication and its equipment. The last chapter is devoted to spread spectrum modulation—a recent technique which enables the transmission of information through multiple frequencies, ensuring greater security.

The book includes an appendix on MATLAB programs with their representative outputs for various modulation technique, including spread spectrum modulation and Smith chart generation. In addition, a supplemental set of MATLAB code files is available for download.
