What Is Simscape Electrical?
Model and simulate electronic, mechatronic, and electrical power systems using Simscape Electrical™.
Simscape Electrical provides component libraries for modeling and simulating electronic, mechatronic, and electrical power systems. This includes applications such as power converters, electric drives, electromechanical actuators, and smart grids. You model these systems by assembling components into a schematic. Then select the physical effects you wish to enable, assign parameter values, and you are ready to simulate. You can verify the behavior of your system under non-ideal conditions by introducing faults into your model.
Simscape Electrical includes many types of components, such as semiconductors, motors, op-amps, logic gates, sensors, and passive devices. It also includes libraries for power networks, such as generators, transformers, transmission lines, FACTS devices, power converters, and electric drives. You can create custom component models with the MATLAB-based Simscape language.
Simscape Electrical models can be simulated using continuous, discrete, and phasor methods. An ideal switching algorithm enables fast and accurate simulation of power electronics devices. Harmonic analysis, load flow, and other key electrical power system analyses are automated. You can integrate other physical systems into your model using the Simscape family of products.
Simscape offers fundamental components in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and other physical domains. And it provides the technology for simulating and analyzing physical systems. The Simscape add-on products provide additional models and analysis capabilities for applications such as hydraulic actuation, heating and cooling, and mechanical powertrains. You can integrate these with three-dimensional mechanical systems and analyze their behavior using an animation of the simulation results.
Simscape Electrical models can also be converted to C code. Your models enable testing of embedded software and configurations such as processor-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, which is safer and more efficient than testing on hardware prototypes. Simscape Electrical models integrate directly with block diagrams in Simulink, state machines in Stateflow, and MATLAB functions. You can simulate your entire system in a single environment. This accelerates tasks such as designing control systems and optimizing system-level performance.
