To develop a single-phase AC-DC-AC power conversion system consisting of a continuous conduction mode (CCM) boost active power factor correction (PFC) section and an inverter which can provide an adjustable and programmable output ac voltage. The system converts a 230 V, 50 Hz ac supply into a regulated 450 Vdc link with an input power factor of nearly unity and the input current harmonic distortion level being within standard limits. The regulated dc-link voltage is fed into the single-phase inverter, which can provide a variable magnitude and variable frequency AC output that suits a typical laboratory power supply. The system is simulated and measured under different load and operating conditions in order to evaluate its performance.
