Electrostatic Gap component for Simscape

This file models the electrostatic gap in a device such as a condenser microphone or electrostatic speaker.

The function of this block has been included in the Variable Gap Capacitor component that was introduced in R2023b. That component is located in the Simulink Library at

This file models the electrostatic gap in a device such as a condenser microphone or electrostatic speaker. In the electrical domain, the device is a parallel plate capacitor in which the gap dimension is variable. The present value of the gap in an input variable from the mechanical domain. The mechanical port of the gap component is a force generator that provides the attractive force between the capacitor plates.

An external mechanical stiffness must be connected to keep the attractive force of the gap from causing the gap to collapse.
