Insert a colorbar into a plot, destroys image with too many numbers?

Hello,

I have a small problem with the colorbar function of matlab. Whenever I add a colorbar into a surfaceplot, that happens http://i.imgur.com/yHeJBW3.jpg

If I then start to move the plot, it looks like this http://i.imgur.com/8Fk3qM4.jpg

Does anyone know how to display the plot properly? This way, it is not realy publishable. I already googled, but I couldn't find anything (probably also because I don't know the right vocabularies to look for).

Mh... yes it is. Thank you! Even though I now feel kind of dumb. I thought I looked "colorbar" up, instead I searched for "colormap". Well anyway, thanks!
