Strange distortion appearing when displaying las point cloud with pcshow

Hello!!

When I open a las file point cloud with lasFileReader and display with pcshow, it seems to distort the point cloud into a kind of cordrouy-type distorion through along an axis. When I open the same las file in cloud compare, there is no such distortion. I was wondering whether anybody had come across this before and if there is a solution. I have included images from both Matlab and CloudCompare, so that you can see what I am talking about.

Any insights or suggestions would be most welcome
