How to solve a cubic equation using Matlab Eg, if I have an equation with ax^3 + bx^2 + cx + d =0
if there are another variables how can I get equations for x ?

It looks as though you are interested in a symbolic rather than numeric solution. If 'solve' doesn't work, you may find the following article useful:
