Question about creation of matlab

Hello, I'm doing research on physical modeling software and I was wondering what sort of software quality metrics were used during the creation of MATLAB. I've scoured through all of the release notes for MATLAB, and I haven't discovered anything related to the metrics used during the development process.

Does anybody know what sort of metrics were actually used during the creation of MATLAB, and if any metrics are used during the use of MATLAB?
