PD controler matlab coding

The pictue ive posted below is my homework assignment that I am stuck on, I do not fully understand how to use the PD controler and I am not looking for an aswer to the problem just any advice and possibley a tutor if any experts would be available to email or anything to help me better understand this topic, any help is appreciated, thank you.
