Adding accents to the live scripts

I am trying to add accents (shown below) to my live script in matlab 2018b

I tried K_hat_t in the text and what I am getting is which is not what I want.

I am aware of the following link that confirms K_hat_t should give me instead of

Can anyone help me with this? My equations are complicated and it becomes a mess with all those long subscripts :(

That feature was not supported until R2019a.
