Multiple compass plots superimposed on mapshow

Dear All

I used mapshow and now I would like to superimpose many compass plots for smaller square areas on this map. What I could do is

1) patch

2) text

3) making a circle in these areas

and so I thought superimposing compass plots should work similar. But it just doesn't work.

I would very appreciate if anybody has an idea
