mason.m (Mason's Rule) problem

I have been unsuccessful in using mason.m to apply Mason's Rule to signal-flow-graph problems. Even when I use the example file supplied with the download, I get erroneous answers. I am using MATLAB R2009b. Has anyone here been successful using mason.m with this version?
