link fitness function to simulink model

Hi

I am bulidng a dc-dc convertier with PID controller. I planning to use Genetic algorithm the optimize the parameters of PID. How to link my fitness function and tuning parameters to simulink model? Appreciate if you can show me step by step as I am new in Matlab
