Contourfm using "painters"

Hi,

I wanted to save a figure as vector so used the -painters option in the print command to save as PDF.

This works fine for line art but when it renders filled contours I get a kind of jigsaw puzzle look where it has stitched together all the pieces to render the filled contours. (see example: http://www.geol.lu.se/inflow/painters.png)

This doesn't happen using -zbuffer or -opengl but I want vector graphics...

Any ideas on how to overcome this stitching effect?

I've also run into this problem. I try to render and export with painters, but get the jigsaw. I can export using zbuffer or opengl, but the quality of text severely declines. I'd sure like a solution!
