Encoding a bit stream of binary numbers using K=3 code with (7, 5) generator

Suppose, i have a Convolutional Encoder that will encode a bit stream of binary numbers (0 and 1 with equal probability). I want to use a K=3 code with (7, 5) generator. Will the coding pattern change if K changes between 1 to 4,how?
