anfis related query

I am currently working on the neural networks with the anfis function. the problem i am facing is that the function is taking insane amount of time for training the FIS( approx 30 minutes +). the application is to solve for inverse kinematics of the 2 dof robot system. the program is almost the same as that given in the demo of the matlab product help. only the difference is the kinematics are of my design. my worry is the matlab example takes a few minutes to solve why is it taking so much time for mine and how do i attach the program to this question (sorry for asking this :) ) also can someone help me how to accurately select the number of member function in anfis thanks in advance
