Which image is more useful to extract contour line.

Hello there.

Now I am trying to extract contour line on the map. Method is quantization and clustering color, and I am looking for several coding for that.

before that, I also try to use photoshop because contour line on the map is not clear.[1) is original map, 2) is clear image by photoshop. 3) is smooth image after clearing] My worry is that contour line become black to make hard to cluster the color. Do you think it is okay to use applied image in matlab? Or, if there are same function with photoshep in matlab, please tell me.

I don't understand the question. What does "cluster the color mean"? What do you want to do to the third/final image? Explain exactly what is wrong with it, such that you cannot do what you want to do.
