can image filtering techniques be applied directly on spectrogram data?

Let's say for example the following: https://www.mathworks.com/help/images/ref/wiener2.html

Can this be used directly on spectrogram data that I get from some FFT function? or does that only work with real images? and then I assume I can recover the filtered signal back with inverse FFT functions?
