Image representation as signal

I am working on a project where I have to deal with images as signals. After that I have to use filters for noise removal, etc.

My question is in the representation of images as signals. I have an image that I want to call, and then deal with it as a signal. I also want the calling of the image not to be through IP Toolbox but should be through SP Toolbox.
