Texture analysis

Hi,

Now I am studying about texture segmentation for remote sensing image.

I am new for Matlab coding. So I stuck, how to write and use the Matlab code....

I have one example image,( <http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=e9x07n&s=5>) which is outlined by white-line already. I would like to label each areas in these outlines of this image. First question : How to label each outlined areas?

Second question : How to calculate the standard deviation of each outlined areas?

Please help and any suggestions are welcome.
