Clustering

Dear All- I have a doubt regarding Clustring.

1- I'm wondering a clustering algorithm should tells us how many cluster we have or/and it should gives us also the members of each clusters?

2- If it gives also the members , how we can find the members since it is projected in grid. What I really needs is I have clusters in a grid by my algorithm, But I don't know how I have to find the members, because I have projected a 4 dimentional-features data on a 2 dimentional grid.

Any Help, idea is really appreciated

Thanks Anton, that was helpful however not enough for me foe working on Ant Clustering Algorithm. Still I needs somebody to help me on Ant Clustering Algorithm.

I also want the members of each DBSCAN cluster, can anyone please tell me how to do it. It seems that thread is too old to ask but found relevant. please tell something to start with at least.
