You need to provide an input to porterdupe. Just like I showed in http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/279402-i-am-trying-to-retrieve-string-output-from-one-script-file-and-use-it-in-another-as-input-now-i-g#answer_218232

You can't simply hit F5 or click the green run triangle - that doesn't give any value for t. You need to do something like this:
theStem = porterdupe(5);
Notice that I did not use stem. stem() is a built in function and you don't want to use any reserved function names for the names of your own variables. So don't use variables called for, while, function, return, end, length, error, min, max, mean, sum, stem, plot, bar, switch, etc. etc.
