Simulating data stream(PRBS) 1Mbps

Hello! I working on BPSK and 16QAM modulations projects and I need to modulate a data stream bit rate is 1 Mbps.I know how to simulate PRBS,but I have a problem with definition of data rate. How can I define a data rate?
