Hi, I'm trying to figure out if I have Embedded Coder installed. Is there a command I can run? I have also heard that the student version does not have embedded coder at all that I have to get a different version. Is this the case?

While Embedded Coder is not available for Student Version, MATLAB Coder and Simulink Coder was just released for Student Version in R2016a. Check out the following link (scroll to the bottom to see the products listed in the Code Generation area):

You can look at https://www.mathworks.com/store/link/products/student/new?s_iid=htb_buy_gtwy_cta3 and scroll to the bottom, where you will (as of R2016a) see MATLAB Coder and Simulink Coder, but not (R2017a) Embedded Coder.

You can however use the Simulink Support Software for Arduino, Raspberry Pi , Lego, iPhone & iPad as well as some Android mobile devices plus others, to program these devices with the Student Version. You do not need embedded coder licences for these. For more information please visit the hardware support pages

Only the Academic and Professional / Commercial version can have Embedded Coder. The Student Version and the Home Version cannot have Embedded Coder.

But what is the reason of not having available embedded coder for student of home license? It would be nice to have it. Is there a way to purchase it?

They dont want people making libraries to run stuff without a matlab license ... WE NEED CODER IN HOME EDITION
