Similarity level of the pixel

Hi, I want to compute the similarity of the pixel with its neighbors. Basically what I want is to assign more weights to the pixels that are similar to its neighboring pixels and less weight to pixels that are dissimilar. Is there any feature or some method that will do this. Kindly suggest. Thanks

How about scanning with a 3x3 window and computing the standard deviation - that will be 0 if all the pixels are the same and high if they're different. Then subtract that from 255
