lsqr : how to obtain intermediate solution vectors?

Is there an easy way to obtain the intermediate solution vectors given by lsqr ?

Take a look at example 2 under

http://de.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/lsqr.html

In function afun, you will have to supply A*x and A'*x, but you can also use this routine to dump the x-vector.

Acutally I am using afun and have my own Ax and A'x, but I still don't see how to output the intermediate x vectors.

But the actual x-vector is handed to this routine by MATLAB ; why not simply write it to a file each time the routine is called (fprintf(...)) ?

I am printing the x vector when it calls the Ax product and it doesn't seem to be an intermediate value of x beacuase the last value is very very far from the final value given at the end. It seems this "x" handled in the Ax product is not really an intermediate x vector.

I'm curious -- why are you interested in the intermediary steps?

Well, I'm comparing different solvers. I want to see the actual differences in the steps. I have changed the afun function that computes the inner product but the intermediate steps really don't seem to correspond. Would you agree ?
