Editor slows down for long lines of text

In the MATLAB Editor, it's sometimes convenient to create a new variable by pasting the output from another tool. When that other tool can create formatted output, i.e., 80-character rows of data each of which end with "; ...", then the line lengths into the Editor are manageable.

However, when a tool just blasts a long text vector, perhaps comma-delimited floating-point values, then the line length into the Editor can get >>1,000 characters. When this happens, editing such a line of text, perhaps to put a "];" terminator, takes a long time.

Based on another answered question (link), I did check some MTree settings, and the code parser seemed to already be disabled:

What does work is to paste the text into Notepad++ and do my editing over there [e.g., adding plot commands], and then saving as an m-file. However, I don't get the convenience of running the code snippet right from the MATLAB Editor with (Ctrl+Enter). Is there any guidance or workaround?

I failed to reproduce your issue. I created a random 1x10000 vector with rand() and pasted it into MATLAB R2023b Editor. However, it did not slow down the editor.

In order to find the precise cause and solution for the issue you are currently experiencing, I believe that the following additional information would be necessary. If you could provide the following information, it would enable contributors, including myself, to assist you more effectively:

1) Detailed description of the issue

- Precise information on MATLAB Release and OS would be also helpful. You can find this by the command "ver".

2) Example files and data files that can reproduce the issue

3) Exact steps to reproduce the same problem using the files you provided

4) All error messages that appear when the issue occurs

When I move my cursor with the right-arrow key from column #5, there is a short hang (1-2 seconds). It looks like the Editor is trying to create a data-tip or to find the matching close brace "}" of what it thinks might be a cell array.

Where I'm going is to add a variable name and opening bracket, "x = [", to the beginning of the line, and then delete the subsequent "$2 = {". The Editor pause is not so long during this operation.
