How to discriminate faulted phase from a non faulted phase, in case of distorted three phase current with equal amplitudes during fault condition ?

I am working on fault detection and fault classification in power system transmission line model in MATLAB/Simulink. I have run the simulation model from 0 to 5 min in MATLAB/Simulink. I am getting the transmission line three phase to ground current as distorted with equal amplitudes during fault condition from 4.5 min to 4.55 min, the figure of which is attached below ? So, How to discriminate faulted phase from a non faulted phase, in case of distorted three phase to ground current with equal amplitudes, in order to have correct fault detection ?
I want only just some clue or tips or idea for this, I am not asking for an exact answer to the question.

Hi Siddharth,
I do not have much knowledge in the power system transmission line models. So, I cannot directly help you with your code. However, I can guide you on possible ways how you can achieve this.
When the three-phase to ground current has equal amplitudes during a fault condition, it can be difficult to discriminate between the faulted phase and non-faulted phases based on the current amplitudes alone. In such cases, other methods can be used to determine the faulted phase. Here are some approaches that you can try:
  1. Phase comparison method: In this method, the phase angle difference between the voltage and current signals of each phase is compared. During a fault, the phase angle difference of the faulted phase will be different from the other phases. This method requires accurate phase angle measurements.
  2. Symmetrical component method: In this method, the positive, negative, and zero sequence components of the current signal are calculated. During a fault, the positive sequence component of the faulted phase will be different from the other phases. This method requires accurate sequence component calculations.
  3. Wavelet transform method: In this method, the current signal is decomposed into its time-frequency components using wavelet transform. The features of the wavelet coefficients can be used to discriminate the faulted phase from the non-faulted phases.
You can try these methods and see which one works best for your case.
Hope it helps.
