Importing a CAD model as a series of points?

Hi,

I am trying to do some analysis on a model windsurfing sail. I am able to get a CAD model of the sail using Autodesk 123D Capture, and am now trying to get that information into Matlab. Ultimately I will need points in cross-sectional slices (so bottom-up slices) which will be treated as individual thin airfoils. Does anyone have any experience turning an STL file (or some other export from CAD) into a series of slice data points in Matlab? Thank you!
