Poor Matlab performance in lenovo yoga 2 pro (i7 2.6 Ghz 8GB RAM Windows 8.1)

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a new laptop lenovo yoga 2 pro (i7 2.6 Ghz 8GB RAM Windows 8.1) and installed matlab R2014a.Unfortunately, my matlab performance is far below my expectation. The benchmark test is showing very poor (less than windows xp machine) performance data which is really disappointing for me. Is this a hardware problem or matlab problem?

Being below the Windows XP machine in the benchmark does not mean that your machine has poor performance. Some algorithms cannot take advantage of multi-core processors, while others can run on the GPU. You might have a different graphics card than the Windows XP machine, or maybe you were running other programs at the same time and less memory was available to MATLAB as a consequence. The benchmark is only informative.

As for code performance, there are techniques you can apply to speed up processing. They are listed here:

Thank you for your reply. I did run matlab as a sole application. Infact I am not running any big code. Simply just plotting is taking a lot of time which is strange for me.
