Insertion/​Deletion/S​ubstitutio​n code simulation

Hello everyone,

What is the best way to simulate Insertion/Deletion/Substitution channel model? I have a binary sequence, I encode it with convolutional code with generator polynomials g1=5 and g2=7, transmit it over the IDS channel and use BCJR decoding algorithm to decode the received sequence. Now I need to see the performance of the system. How could I do that?
