Assertion Error: Stateflow - object[id]!=NULL

I just upgraded from MATLAB 2010a to MATLAB 2012b. I can open the Simulink model (.mdl), but when I try to run it I get:

Assertion Error Unknown Stateflow object[id]!=NULL

I have tried saving the file as a 2012b Simulink model, but I still get the same error.

The reason I was getting this error was because my Matlab Functions were not loaded properly. check sf functions and make sure they work properly.
