Is it possible to apply skeletonisation to voronoi

Can anyone please tell me what is the concept of skeletonisation.. Is it possible to apply skeletonisation to voronoi diagram? Please suggest me some materials for understanding the concept. And, I have to implement that in Matlab.. Kindly send me links if u have any!
