Report on lookup table blocks

Description

The Look-Up Table component reports on the following blocks in the Simulink^® Lookup Tables library. Some examples of the lookup table blocks include:

• 1-D Lookup Table

• n-D Lookup Table

• Sine

• Interpolation Using Prelookup

• Direct Lookup Table (n-D)

The Look-Up Table component inserts a figure and/or table into the report. The table contains input and output numeric values. A figure plots these values.

Note

The Look-Up Table component does not display a table or plot for the Direct Lookup Table (n-D) block if the block is configured to generate the table during simulation as a block input. Instead, the Look-Up Table displays a note in the report to the effect that the table is generated dynamically during simulation.

Look-Up Table Options

This pane allows you to specify the types of lookup table blocks to include in the report and how they appear. If you select none of the check boxes in this pane, the component does not insert anything into the report.

• The Look-Up Table displays results according to the type of its parent component:

  • Model Loop: Includes all lookup tables in the current model.

  • System Loop: Includes all lookup tables in the current system.

  • Block Loop: If the current block is a lookup table, the reports that block.

  • Signal Loop: Includes all lookup tables connected to the current signal.

  • If the Look-Up Table does not have any of the looping components as its parent, it includes all lookup tables in all open models.

• Plot 1-D data: Plots data from a 1-D Lookup Table block. Choose the plot type, Line plot or Bar plot, from the corresponding list. The input data appears on the horizontal or x-axis, and the output data appears on the vertical or y-axis.

• Create table for 1-D data: Creates a table that contains numeric data values from the 1-D Lookup Table block.

• Plot 2-D data: Creates a plot of 2-D Lookup Table blocks. You can specify whether the data appears as a surface plot or a line plot. The line plot is best for small data sets, and the surface plot for larger tables. For more information on surface and line plots, see 2-D and 3-D Plots.

  Note

  This option creates a 2-D slice through n-D data.

• Create table for 2-D data: Creates a table that contains numeric data values from the 2-D Lookup Table block.

• Create table for N-D data: Creates a table that contains numeric data values from the n-D Lookup Table block.

Print Options

• Image file format: Specifies the image file format. The default option, Automatic HG Format, automatically chooses the format best suited for the specified report output format. Otherwise, choose an image format that your output viewer can read. Other options include:

  • Automatic HG Format (uses the Simulink file format selected in the Settings dialog box)

  • Black & white encapsulated PostScript

  • Black & white encapsulated PostScript (TIFF)

  • Black & white encapsulated PostScript2

  • Black & white encapsulated PostScript2 (TIFF)

  • Color encapsulated PostScript

  • Color encapsulated PostScript (TIFF)

  • Color encapsulated PostScript2

  • Color encapsulated PostScript2 (TIFF)

  • JPEG high quality image

  • JPEG low quality image

  • JPEG medium quality image

  • PDF image

  • PNG 24-bit image

  • TIFF - compressed

  • TIFF - uncompressed

  • Windows metafile

• Paper orientation:

  • Landscape

  • Portrait

  • Rotated

  • Use figure orientation: Uses the orientation for the figure, which you set with the orient command.

  • Full page image (PDF only): In PDF reports, scales images to fit the full page, minimizes page margins, and maximizes the size of the image by using either a portrait or landscape orientation.

  For more information about paper orientation, see the orient command in the MATLAB^® documentation.

• Image size: Specifies the size of the image. In the text field, enter the size by using the format [width height]. Then, in the dropdown list to the right of the text field, select the units for the size of the image.

• Background colors: Specifies the colors to use for printing. To change the colors in an image, choose one of these options:

  • Automatic: Prints the snapshot with the light graphics theme.

  • Light graphics theme: Prints the snapshot with a white background and dark-colored graph lines and text.

  • Dark graphics theme: Prints the snapshot with a dark-colored background and light-colored graph lines and text.

  • Preserve figure and axes background colors: Preserves the colors in the original image as displayed on the screen.

  • Make figure background white: Prints the snapshot with a white background.

Display Options

• Scaling: Controls size of the image, as displayed in a browser. Making an image larger using this option does not affect the storage size of the image, but the quality of the displayed image may decrease as you increase or decrease the size of the displayed image.

  Generally, to achieve the best and most predictable display results, use the default setting of Use image size.

  • Use image size: Causes the image to appear the same size in the report as on screen (default).

  • Fixed size: Specifies the number and type of units.

  • Zoom: Specifies the percentage, maximum size, and units of measure.

• Size: Specifies the size of the image. In the text field, enter the size by using the format [width height]. Then, in the dropdown list to the right of the text field, select the units for the size of the image. These fields are active only if you choose Fixed size in the Scaling dropdown list.

• Max size: Specifies the maximum size of the image. In the text field, enter the size by using the format [width height]. Then, in the dropdown list to the right of the text field, select the units for the size of the image. These fields are active only if you choose Zoom in the Scaling dropdown list.

• Alignment: Only reports in PDF or RTF format support this property.

  • Auto

  • Right

  • Left

  • Center

• Title: Specifies text to appear above the snapshot.

• Caption: Specifies text to appear under the image.

Version History

R2026a: Removal of InvertHardcopy from printing options

Report Generator no longer supports the InvertHardcopy property as an option to set the background color of a snapshot. See Renderer and InvertHardCopy figure properties no longer affect output for more information. To set the desired background color, consider whether using a light or dark theme will provide the output colors you want or you can set the background color manually.

R2025a: Specify graphics theme for snapshots

The Background colors property replaces the Invert hardcopy property. If you open a RPT file created before R2025a, Report Explorer sets value of Background colors to the value previously assigned to Invert hardcopy according to this table:

R2024b: Removal of BMP for image output

Report Generator no longer supports BMP (bitmap) as an output image format. This affects snapshots, images from files, and watermarks in both the Report Explorer and the Report, DOM, and PPT APIs. See print for more information.
