editz - Tinkering in the z-plane

editz is an educational tool to help you think in the z-plane to foster an understanding of frequency response functions and digital filters

Although you could design digital filters with this application, there are hundreds of other
tools better suited to that task. However none of those tools will help you learn to think
in the z-plane or develop an intuition about how the roots of the transfer function affect
the frequency response. The key feature of editz that will help you develop this intuition
is the ability to grab hold of a pole or zero with the mouse and slide it around the z-plane
while watching how this affects the frequency response.
