how to draw a three dimension bar on a long-lat map?

Dear all,

I have a lot of track observation(biomass of plankton) points in the ocean,i want to draw biomass on each point using bar on the long-lat map. The z direction need log scale.

how to get this?

I can use m map package to draw nice long-lat map, but to draw the three-dimension bar in each station is challenging.

I tried scatter3 and bar3, both cannot produce good results。
