how do i attach an image in the body section for asking a question

There is an image icon to paste your image link directly into your post here. See the green and blue image with the brown frame around it. However around half or more of the links I've tried pasting don't display the image, just the link with extra angle brackets. In that case I've just pasted a regular link via the chain link icon. I don't know why the image icon doesn't work all the time, with all links - maybe someone else knows. For example, this one: <http://snag.gy/EY1FL.jpg>

It has to be on a line by itself or else you will get the extra-angle-brackets effect.

OK that seems to work. I think there were some other issues too that we discussed a long time ago, like problems if it had https instead of http or something like that.

Actually here's one of the links tinypic.com gives that will work if you paste it into the address field, but not here:

(You have to edit it to see the link - it says http://tinypic.com/r/352f6dt/6 - it doesn't show up for some reason, not even with angle brackets.) I guess it doesn't work because the link doesn't end in .jpg or some other official image format extension.

That is not a link to an image: it is a link to an HTML page. One of the image links there is
