How can i convert border irregularity score(0-8) to range (0-1)?

In cancer detection for calculating irregularity index we divide the lesions into eight sectors and determine irregularity by considering 1 for each secortor.Thats why the maximum result will be 8.But I want to convert it in the range from 0-1.How? Anyone help please..

Can you tell me how have you found out the result in terms of 8 after finding the derivative of the border irregularity function?

What about dividing the result by 8?
