Lowess smoothing for polynomial curve

hello, I have a 7th degree polynomial curve, the X axis is time and the Y is a RMSD value. The error is 0.2. Is Lowess a good method of smoothing for this data time? Also will someone please tell me how to use this function since my view differs from the documentation.

Hello this page appears appropriate http://uk.mathworks.com/help/curvefit/lowess-smoothing.html however, I do not see the Lowess option within curve fit. Must I define variables and functions?
