energy of real part and energy of imaginary part taken separately as features are giving good results in comparison to energy of complex coefficients

In my work i am applying complex wavelet on my dataset,i am getting real and imaginary wavelet coefficients but
why energy of real part and energy of imaginary part taken seaparately as features in classifier are giving good results in comparision to energy of complex coefficients as features?
like energy of real part =r energy of complex part =c featureset1 =(r,c)
energy of complex coefficient=(r+c)=featureset2
But why feature set 1 is giving good results in comparsion to featureset 2?????
